EXHIBITION “ARAB SPRING, TEN YEARS LATER”

Ten years ago, the Arab world experienced one of the most important events in its recent history. From the end of 2010 and throughout 2011, a wave of massive popular protests swept across the Middle East, shaking political regimes that in some cases had been in power for more than two decades.

The Arab Spring is the first revolution to be broadcast on the internet, based on non-professional recordings that are the decisive proof of a certain democratisation of the image at the beginning of the 21st century.

The exhibition “Arab Spring, Ten Years Later” is based on a series of monitors with abundant audiovisual material from those days, and also brings together graphic documents, images of photojournalists, television programmes, film fragments, amateur films and journalistic sources. The project has been curated by the Valencian writer, filmmaker and journalist Ramón Alfonso, a contributor to the magazine Dirigido por and professor of Film History.
