La leyenda de Balthasar el castrado

At the end of the 17th century, in Naples, still under Spanish rule, a young pupil, Balthasar, whose education has been entrusted to the elderly Duchess of Arcos, is castrated to preserve the purity and beauty of his voice. The Duchess dies and her son, the Duke of Arcos, takes responsibility for the inheritance, which includes Balthasar. With the arrival of María Loffredo, the Duke's former lover, a triangle is established that has tragic consequences for Balthasar's supposedly peaceful life.
