In the 1960s, just after Mali gained its independence, a young socialist meets and falls in love with a woman who is trying to escape from an arranged marriage.

In Marseille, a family gathers to celebrate the birth of a baby girl. Despite their happiness, times are hard for her parents. As they try to cope, they resume their relationship with their grandfather, an ex-convict.

The three adult children of a dying man gather in his picturesque villa and reflect on where they are, who they have become and what they have inherited.

The 1980s. A Marseillaise of Armenian origin blows up the Turkish ambassador’s car in Paris. A cyclist passing by is seriously injured and the terrorist, against the advice of his colleagues, decides to go and meet his victim.

A woman finds herself more alone than ever at home on her birthday: a cake with candles properly lit accompanies her, but there are no guests. It is then that she decides to call a taxi and set off in search of adventure.

A couple of trade unionists are robbed by two armed men. When the assailants are arrested by the police, the couple discover that bringing them to justice is not enough for their consciences.

World War II. In Paris. The working-class poet Missak Manouchian leads a group of Resistance partisans fighting against the Nazi occupation while trying to escape the siege of the French police and collaborationists.

Three friends, two men and a woman, who used to steal fur coats to give to the workers in their neighbourhood, meet again a few years later. The reason is the kidnapping of the woman’s son.

On learning that he is seriously ill, a man decides to return to his native Armenia. Before leaving, he leaves his daughter clues so that she can find him. She then sets out on a journey of initiation in search of him.
